Guests, Greatness, and Guilty Pleasures: After Dark

We continue our conversation wherein we defend our tastes after experiencing audio problems. Also, lots of superheroes.

As we said before, this is a continuation of our conversation in Episode 5. We had an issue during the playback of the podcast that rendered the audio at too low of a volume. We also took a LONG digression where we just talk about comics. So, if you've enjoyed any of our other discussions (or share Chris's intense love of DC live-action shows), you'll enjoy this one.

We do stay on topic at some points. Chris is talks about his love of Smallville and Arrow (Meanwhile, one of us continues to constantly squee about The Flash). We talk about James overcoming his prejudices about how media today differs from in his youth. We try to explain why comic book movie producers don't care about comic book readers. We even reveal the (not-at-all) secret history of Sean Connery showing up in The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen (and, apparently, Will Smith). Also, A Knight's Tale, Moulin Rouge, Joss Whedon, high school (the reason why Ed doesn't like Toni Morrison), Scream, Cabin in the Woods, Speed Racer (plus a live re-enactment of Ed's reaction when he watched the movie), Lupin the 3rd, and The Wire.

Again, a special thanks to James. And Ed apologizes again for rambling.

P.S:
We just reuse one song in this episode. It's called Monday, by John Brion. It's from the soundtrack to I Heart Huckabees. No real point to including the song, we just think it sounds cool and makes great transition music. If you really need a reason behind it, let's say that the movie is about people solving existential cases and we're discussing movies from an existential point of view. Or, just enjoy the song.

P.P.S:
Isn't it funny when James asks us if we have a problem talking about a movie with superheroes? Also, here is finally why I apologized for confusing Jessica Jones and Jessica Drew.
